About Us

Bright Beginnings was created in 2023 by Charlie and Nikki. With over 35 years working as child protection and exploitation detectives, they decided to follow their passion for helping those most vulnerable by creating quality, homely and nurturing accommodation with outstanding support.

Nikki and Charlie spent the majority of their careers in child protection, domestic violence and serious crime.  Most recently they have been working as specialists in child exploitation and have worked extensively with children in care and care leavers.  This has exposed them to the difficulties faced by young people transitioning to adulthood and enabled them to develop a clear plan of what safe, nurturing, quality supported accommodation looked like. They have been able to put their visualisations into reality, and they are proud to introduce, and welcome you to Bright Beginnings…

We provide supported accommodation to young females aged 16-18 in a shared home staffed 24/7. In addition, we also have outreach flats for those ready to live independently. In both settings we offer flexible and tailored packages of support to meet the needs of the individual. We will use our specialisms and expertise to ensure that young people are kept safe and able to identify and avoid risk

Using our extensive experience and training we ensure that young people are kept safe and able to identify and manage risky behaviours. We pride ourselves in having developed excellent working relationships with partner agencies and local organisations, working collaboratively to safeguard and offer the most appropriate support for the individual needs of young people.

Our Vision

We understand the challenges young people face when they leave care and Bright Beginnings was formed to plug this gap. Moving from a children’s home, foster care or a family home can be very daunting but we believe that our friendly nature, experience, and qualifications in working with young people and trauma mean that we can support them through this move. Every young person has the right to live in a safe, nurturing home of a high- quality standard. We believe that to get the greatest chance of success in adult life, young people should be equipped with the life skills to live independently and manage their own home. We are passionate that alongside skills and education or employment, young people need to have their personal health and social needs met. With these skills and opportunities combined, young people have a better chance of a smooth, successful transition to adulthood.  We will support them in building strong trusting relationships, their resilience and confidence.

Our vision is to meet our beliefs. We want to create an environment where young people flourish and develop into happy, confident, and able young adults, maintaining healthy relationships and support networks.  We will encourage young people to provide for themselves through education or employment opportunities and teach them to sustain and manage their own home and tenancy.  We will achieve our vision by guiding, supporting, and assisting each young person with the knowledge that every young person is unique, and each will travel a different path to reach the same goal.

By encompassing different approaches of support we will address an individual’s emotional and psychological needs and promote healing and resilience. Our investment in young people will not just stop when they move on to independence.  Staff will still be available to give advice, practical help and emotional support after they leave, giving them the best chances of success in their future.
