Our Accommodation

At Bright Beginnings we are proud of the accommodation that we provide and believe that it reflects our commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for the young people in our care. When sourcing the accommodation, we assess the local area and needs to ensure the safety of all residents.

All of our accommodation adheres strictly to the statutory regulations, undergoing consistent health and safety checks.

Consistent with our fundamental principles, we guarantee that our properties:

  • Clean, clutter free, pleasantly decorated and to a high quality standard to provide a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Are safe – We conduct thorough assessments of each property’s location to confirm they are situated in areas with low crime rates, thereby minimising potential dangers to young residents. The Police Care Home Coordinator reviews our Location Assessments to provide insights into any known hazards, guiding our evaluation of the location’s appropriateness.
  • Close to local amenities such as shops, transport links, education providers as well as employment opportunities.

Bright Beginnings recognised the local demand for homely, supportive accommodation and maintains that a more intimate setting allows for tailored support. This kind of personalised care is essential for the emotional and mental growth of young people. A nurturing home setting provides stability and consistency which helps young people to feel secure and supported.

The Woodlands

The Woodlands is a cottage on the outskirts of Hereford offering support to up to 4 females aged 16-18.  Young people can stay post 18 but need to have moved in prior to their 18th birthday.

The home is nestled amongst a beautiful, wooded area on the outskirts of Hereford.  Just a short walk to the bus stop which has regular buses into town. Inside the home are four bedrooms, an office, lounge, kitchen diner and utility as well as a downstairs toilet and bathroom. The home is clean, spacious and airy. It has been decorated with a modern theme but young people are encouraged to make their mark on it introducing any decoration that they might like.

The home is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (with sleep-in’s). Each young person has their own room with a lockable door for privacy.  They will be encouraged to furnish and decorate their own rooms.  Each room is colour coded with new bedding towels and crockery corresponding to their colour theme.

Young People at the home will be expected to engage with inhouse Independent Living Skills support.

Outreach Flats

Our ‘transition’ outreach apartments is open to individuals who are 18 years old. These one-bedroom flats promote independence and adhere to the highest fire safety and health standards. They are also equipped with high-quality furnishings and are accessible to both male and female residents.

Staff at Bright Beginnings provide comprehensive support to young people transitioning to our flats. This support encompasses assistance with creating or enhancing CV, finding work or education opportunities as well assistance with finances, cooking and other independent living skills.

Initially staff will provide a minimum of 10 hours of support per week. As the young person gains independence and their requirements diminish, the support hours will be adjusted accordingly. However, should their needs intensify, we are prepared to increase support hours to address those needs effectively.

Young people will stay in the flats for as long as is required. Staff will carry out monthly fire drills as well as monthly Health and Safety checks to ensure safe living. Additionally the flats have ‘Ring Doorbells’ to provide an extra layer of security for our residents.
In the case of emergencies staff will be available to provide support 24/7 and residents will be provided with the home’s mobile number to reach them should such problem occur.
